We continue our trip north with a stop in Bardstown, KY for 3 nights. Upon arrival, we drove into town and checked out the two open bars so John could do some bourbon tasting. One of the places was a winery too so I was able to try their Cabernet. A very cute town.
On Tuesday we drove into Louisville to see our friends and their son’s (which is John’s Godson) newest establishments. He already owns a successful brewery called Ten20 in downtown. He opened another Ten20 in Anchorage (suburb), and leased an additional building on the river downtown to add a third bar. He also bought a huge property in Borden, In, and opened an Airbnb. I had no idea they had such hills in Indiana. Great to see our friends and their successful son.
Drove to Morrow, OH for the night and enjoyed a Harvest Host location at Valley Vineyards. We had another lady who was also boondocking join us for the music and drinks. The good news is our generator worked as it should.
Continued to Galena, OH for a few days. The campground is almost empty and they put people right next to us. It would have been fine if they didn’t have about 20 people over both nights and party until 12:30 am. We are visiting our two granddaughters and their parents. Hung out with them on Saturday and ended with ice cream and watching a fun Kentucky Derby. Maggie was baptized on Sunday, May 8, Mother’s Day.
Was able to see Dr. Armfelt, a former coworker of John for dinner. Had a wonderful visit. Spent the last day in Pataskala golfing and having dinner with the kids and grandkids. Had a great round of Golf at the Cumberland Trail and then a few drinks at their pub until we met the kids for dinner. The pub even had Weller antique bourbon for John and keno for me. Emma, the 4-year-old granddaughter, is a ham or a diva, not sure which. She talks nonstop and has adult conversations. She wanted to know what my keno slip was and why I kept watching a screen. So I explained it to her so she helped me watch the numbers.
Continuing our trip north with a stop in Bowling Green for a few days to visit friends and the Grolle family. However, John and I, are idiots. So we couldn’t shut the bedroom door at night at this last stop The door stopped right at the carpet where the slide goes out and we couldn’t get it any further. So when our neighbors left we played with the slides to see if we could see anything unusual about them coming out. Nothing, just figured I would make an appointment to have it fixed. This morning as we were leaving, I couldn’t open the door all the way to latch it. It turns out the hinge was in the down position the whole time and that is what was preventing it from shutting. Needless to say, John and I will not be opening an RV diagnostic and repair center soon.
Headed to Bowling Green and stayed on our friend’s farm, Wenig Farms, for a few days to visit friends and family. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends on Wednesday, followed by another beautiful dinner with family on Friday. Ended the weekend with steaks on the grill, wine, and friends.
Crossed the border in Michigan and you could tell immediately by the roads. As you can see we lost a hubcap and lugnut covers. Good thing our destination is the Spartan chassis facility to have routine maintenance on Monday. Ended the day with family and dinner and enjoyed the grandkids.
