RV Winter 2024 – N. Myrtle Beach – Hilton Head, SC – Flager Beach, FL

Nice site in N. Myrtle Beach with paved pads, a fire pit, and a corner lot. As soon as we arrived and completed our set up it started to pour. We made it just in time. Took a quick trip to the PGA Superstore, and left with no purchases. Saturday was a day of football followed by a walking tour of the local bars.

Visited the Barefoot Landing area to check out the stores and bars. Watched football at a bar and met a 96-year guy at the bar who was very interesting. I hope I am as spry as he when I am that age.

Golfed at a local course, Azalea. Very slow play so paired up with a couple of the guys behind us. Left my driver in the bag and did a lot better.

I cannot find my driver’s license. I have no idea where or when I lost it. So I ordered a replacement online. Hopefully, it will arrive soon.

Spent our first full day in Hilton Head driving around looking at 55+ communities to see if any would fit our criteria in the future. Either Margaritaville or Sun City are possibilities, but likely will still end in either Florida or Arizona.

My son-in-law found a new bike for me and I used it for the first time. We rode for 15 miles around Hilton Head Island. The bike did great, my butt not so much.

We did a day trip to the surrounding area. We began the day by driving to Beaufort and visiting the national cemetery and honoring the fallen soldiers, followed by a nice walk on the Spanish Moss Trail. After we drove to Hunting Island and saw an old church ruin, then enjoyed lunch on the beach. We debated climbing to the top of the lighthouse (167 steps) but the decision was made for us, as it was closed for renovations. We stopped at a local pub and enjoyed the scenery over one of the sounds.

Arrived in Flagler Beach after a 4-hour drive. It is amazing how busy I-95 is even on a Sunday. On Monday we did a quick tour of a sugar plantation ruin, followed by reading on the beach and soaking in some rays.

Our final day was spent with a 6-mile bike ride, then bar hopping in Flagler Beach ending with a $6 Cheeseburgr HH special. This could be the first year in 20 years we didn’t dress up for Halloween. I will plan better in 2024.
