Still raining pretty hard when we left this morning however it isn’t snow and it is over 40 degrees. Did our normal routine to leave or so we thought.
As usual, I take care of water, sewer, and electricity. Just when I thought I couldn’t get any wetter. I forgot to turn the main water off before I unscrewed the house. Of course, the full force of water came gushing out all over me, for my first shower of the day.
Before this trip, I purchased a flex hose. I have used them on the boat and really like how they store. Well, apparently when I purchased it, I didn’t pay attention to the diameter of the hose. It doesn’t appear that we had really good water pressure however I was running all the faucets, dishwasher and washer to de-winterize. So when we set up tonight I am going to try the flex again and see what pressure we have.
So as John is bringing in the slides we have water coming into the RV again. I really thought those semi awnings on top were supposed to keep the water out. Of course, we did get an inch of rain.
Finally, as John was pulling out of the site and I was watching as he wasn’t moving. We (okay me) forgot to take the chocks out from behind the tires. Once those were out we were ready to leave and hook up the jeep. Still have the 3 LED light problem on Jeep, it just looks like we will have to bring it in to a dealer in Florida.
Hit fog for a while, not too dense could see a half-mile or so. However, those semis, just seem to blow on by and of course reading about multiple accidents from the fog I get pretty nervous.
originally when I set up the trip planning for this it rerouted me an hour around the tunnel. I thought that can’t be possible, trucks must be able to go through the tunnel and we don’t carry propane. Okay, so when I originally set up the program I checked no tunnels, ferries or u-turns. Once that was corrected we were back on track and going through the West Virginia tunnel.
Get to South Carolina and lo and behold no rain and 70 degrees. Woohoo, we aren’t in Kansas any longer (or Michigan for us). Had our first campfire of 2020 and John got to smoke his cigar.
Hooking up was pretty easy except I couldn’t get the water to turn on. I called the office (hoping we didn’t have to move as the jacks were already down and slides out). Well, the water pumps here look like pumps on a well and I didn’t pull it completely up. Viola water. Then as I was hooking up the flex hose a horrible noise emitted from the compartment. It took about 10 minutes (and alarming the entire campground) for me to realize I accidentally bumped the switch for the macerator, switched that off and all is quiet. By the way, the new flex hose turned out to give us plenty of pressure, whew because that hose is so much easier to deal with.
