RV Winter 2023 – Green River, UT-Silt,CO-Aurora, CO

Beautiful drive from Cedar City to Green River, up until 20 miles west and our smoke alarm went off and we have smoke throughout the coach. Thank goodness we had a large shoulder to pull off. Out come the fire extinguisher and we spray the crap out of the brakes as they overheated. After all was settled I asked John, did you have the Engine (Jake) brakes on, he said (a few choice words) but essentially no. So we were going down these steep mountain grades on brakes. We arrived safely in Green River and went to the hardware store to buy another fire extinguisher.

Only one night in Green River and on to Silt, CO. Two days ago the outlets in the galley area quit working (thinking a bad GFI since it won’t reset). I was going to replace it in Green River, but with everything concerning the brakes, I had a glass of wine instead. So today the inverter wouldn’t come on so we have no electricity while driving. While we are plugged in electricity works everywhere except the galley.

Played Lakota Links Golf in Colorado. A true mountain course. The high elevation and walking up and down the hills (whenever I could) were exhausting. The beautiful course was followed by a dinner at a great pub in Silt, Co.

Drove through the mountains to arrive in Denver. I-70 is absolutely horrible in the right lane with ruts caused by heavy trucks. Because of the weight of the RV, we are not allowed to pass or use any other lane, so it was a much longer drive than expected. We stayed at Cherry Creek State Park with HUGE sites and a great view of the Rockies.

Sunday we spent the day with my best friend, Donna, and her husband from elementary and high school. Other than a quick visit a few years ago (at her dad’s funeral) we haven’t seen in each in decades. It was a wonderful visit and I couldn’t have been happier to see her. We also made a quick stop to see her sister, Madelyne.
