RV Winter 2023 – Mesquite, NV – Cedar City, UT

Spent a few days in Mesquite. Golfed the Oasis – Palmers’ course. Golf runs anywhere from $90 at twilight to $335 for Wolf Creek. I was able to get ours on Golf Now for $66. Beautiful course, 85 degrees, and 30 mph winds. My wrist does better each time.

Spent the last warm day by the pool as we head for much, much colder temperatures. We had a short drive from Mesquite to Cedar City, Utah. A good thing as it was a really windy drive through the mountains. A new state to be added to our RV adventures.

As most of my friends and family know I am a planner. So I had our first hike planned for Zion National Park, and our stops on the shuttle (you can’t drive in the park). I have been choosing easy-to-easy-moderate hikes as I am still nervous on unsteady ground and slippery rocks with my wrist. Our first hike was an easy one to lower Emerald Pool. We got to the falls and decided to continue on as someone told us we can go about a mile and then head back toward the shuttle. We must have missed that turn as I am climbing up higher and higher on rocks and found ourselves at the upper Emerald Pool. All in all a beautiful hike, just a few extra miles than planned.

Originally I had planned a long driving trip to Lake Powell with some sightseeing stops along the way. We decided that 8 hours on the road not including stops didn’t sound like fun. So we switched to a local hike (about 3.5 miles) and then a drive to the summit of 9910 ft of the local mountain.

Another local hike, nice sweeping views of the city.

The weather in Utah changes as much as in Michigan. Within 4 hours we had lightning, thunder, hail, an inch of snow, more rain, and high winds and it was 44 degrees during that entire time.

We drove and walked Bryce Canyon. Because of the rain the night before the original trail I wanted to hike was too slippery for me. We did walk the rim and drive through the park and take in the beautiful scenery. The drive to Bryce was also very pretty.

We were hoping to golf on our last day in Cedar City, but the winds kicked up high gusts AND the temperature was in the 40s.
