Arrived in Parker and stayed at a nice state park. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and it was peaceful, pretty, and quiet. By late Friday the park was full with over a million kids all in the site next to us. Actually, in the end, they were very well-behaved. Headed out to check out a few bars. The second two were right on the Colorado River and had lots of activity.
Saturday I did my first true hike since my broken arm. It was challenging because it was uphill on slippery rocks. Going up was okay, coming down a more challenging, but I made it without falling or breaking anything. We finished the day with a stop at Foxs and Pirates Bar on the river to watch NCAA.
Sunday was an interesting drive on a two-track for 6 miles to check out the Desert Bar. My kidneys will never be the same because of that ride. After went back to Foxs to watch the excitement on the river.
Monday we did a trip to Parker Dam and then another hike. The hike was shortened because we ran out of the trail after a mile, and I wasn’t about to climb on slippery rocks. Finished the drive on the California side of the river with a stop to see a painted rock and a burro on the road and ended up at the casino to watch the final NCAA game.
Ended our stay with my first round of golf after the broken wrist. Was going to play only 9 but thought what the heck my wrist needs exercise after getting the brace off. Probably a mistake as I played like crap but it sure felt good to be on the course again.
