RV Winter 2023 – Tucson Mid Dec

Remember all those wine glasses we brought when we began our adventure 2.5 years ago? Good thing. Wineries in Arizona charge you $6-$7 more per tasting if you use their glass (you get it as a souvenir) and I suspect there is a law they can’t reuse or something. Anyway, we brought our own on Sunday, and we left them there. The funny thing is we had John’s OSU glass and I put it back and said let’s take one you don’t care about if it breaks.

We golfed at Quarry Pines followed by dinner and drinks in Marana with Frank and Kate. So it appears my “old” lousy game is back for this round and donated a few balls to the quarry. Beautiful scenery, however.

Took third place at Texas Hold’em and won $20 and then played in a cornhole contest on Friday and took second for $10, on a roll. Froze to death, however, as I was in sandals and no jacket. It really needs to warm up here.

Drove to Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge on Saturday. Did a few small hikes and one around Aquirre Lake (see pictures) with no water for many years. We did see some mule deer, birds, red-tailed hawks, and a javelina. On the drive down we saw the Kitt observatory (on the hill) which is on my to-do list while here, however, it is currently closed.
